Dear Family and Friends,
Rehab is coming along, trying new things and repeating others. The patch of skin from Anita's right leg used to replace skin taken from her left forearm has replaced itself and now is fully exposed to air. Today things were progressing when the erector set came apart, evidently they forgot to issue Anita an adjustable wrench ! That delayed things until the right person could be summoned to repair what had come apart. Of course the quote was, " I've never seen this happen before". Leave it to Anita to be in the middle of stuff like this.
No rehab on Sunday, yeh, rest day, just like the creation story. Next week we'll see if the doctors are ready to take off the metalic gear . Thank you for reading even though you don't type in a comment. We are in touch. Take care, ed

Fancy that - sitting in a chair to eat lunch
Dear Family and Friends,
Two days of rehab down and ? to go. Anita is being eased into working a lot of muscles each day. So far , so good. Her appetite is getting stronger, why not, she's expending more energy these days. The erector set doctor told Anita today that when he removes the e-set Anita will have to wear some sort of splint that will keep the elbow immobilized for six more weeks. It looks like writing with her left hand is going to be on hold a little while longer.
Anita sat in her wheelchair to eat lunch today and after awhile getting back into bed was looking much better that continuing to eat. I'm sure practice on this skill will take some more time. Caroline and Jim came by this evening for a visit, she had worked ten years ago as a chaplain in the same wing.
Anita's friends are ready to set up a tax prep room as soon as Anita can get the hospital CEO to tell her which room can be used ! Another project to keep her busy.
Hope you are well, please cont. to walk with us in the recovery journey. Take care, ed

Moving On ! ( with a little bit of anxiety )
Dear Family and Friends,
Don't try to call Anita in room 543 , instead wait until after 3:30 pm to call her in room 467, unless she's too bushed to answer her phone. Today was move day to the acute rehab wing. She's been welcomed and assured that she will keep doing well on her road back to normal. We left behind many faces we'd gotten to know well and had treated her the same. Amidst the good wishes we loaded up the accumulated stuff and moved down one floor and to the opposite side of the bldg, away from the helicopter pad, a shame. The room is bigger and very close to the elevator next to the emergency entrance. Can't tell you much until I check in tomorrow after 3:30, that's when visitors can come, until 8:30 (weekdays), after 12 noon on Sat and all day on Sunday.
Only four more days hopefully until the erector set is removed, that will require a trip to surgery, sedation and some recoup time. We'll see if that happens as previously indicated. Anita may be getting back into "some " civilian attire, we'll see how much cutting they're do to get some sort of top around her hardware. Thanks for checking in and writing comments if you'd figured that one out. Take care, enjoy your short work week. ed
