(Ed Here) Dear Friends,
Today was a good day when Anita's eyes were wide open and she made some serious effort to talk with us and respond to our questions or comments. She is anxious to move her legs (particularly her right one) and clearly wants to get rid of the foam wedge that keeps her legs separated. Also, she wants a drink of water, but not yet. (still has the liquid feeding tube in her nostril) Likes to have her teeth brushed so she can get a bit of liquid before the nurse vacuums out the water and paste. She got her hair washed today by putting on a shower cap type thing that you massage externally, then you take it off and dry her hair. Wa la !!
As you might guess Anita got a little too active this morning, so they gave her a little sedative to calm her down. Our next visit was rather quiet with us doing most of the talking. The nurses continue to talk with her and she is good about doing what they ask - wiggle your toes! Tomorrow they are going to do an MRI on her neck area to make sure it's alright to take off her stability collar that she is still wearing. Also, some rehab therapy people are coming in to work with her legs particularly. I am doing OK now and working on the fine art of drinking H 2 O more frequently during the day.
Hope you had a great weekend; mine went from worse to good and Anita went from good to better. All in favor of more, say I!

Ed,
I am so glad to see that you are feeling better. What a wild ride this has been for all of you. I got a kick out of reading Carries comments about you rivaling the Naccaratos. At least you are on this side of the world!! They are really good about having their adventures far away from home.
Also, I had to laugh when Jennie commented on the time Anita's sweater caught on fire. I remember that and how lucky she was that it only burned her sweater. She was such a good sport about it and was very tolerant of all the jokes made the rest of the night.
Well, I hope Anita will get her shoulder surgery this week. It sounds as though she is making good progress, and that is a blessing.
Take care, drink plenty of fluids, get some sleep, and don't forget to eat something as well. Thanks, too, for keeping up this blog. It keeps us from bothering you with needless phone calls.
Tell Anita that we are all thinking of her and praying for her recovery.
Fondly,
Barbara & Dan

So glad you're back home. Laurent and I are off to France, but I'll keep posted on things by blog.
Prayers still for steady recovery for Anita.
Love you both,
Margaret Aymer Oget
Ed - please tell Anita that we did our Christmas music yesterday - pretty well I think - but the alto section missed her contribution. Hope she enjoys the CD that Dave had made of the service.
Know it's frustrating when progress is so slow, but things are going in the right direction, and that's what matters.
I had hoped to get back to the hospital before going out of town, but don't think I'm going to make it. I will be thinking of you all, and praying for steady improvement.
God Bless You,
Alison Main
Glad you are up and at them again. I thought you learned in tennis that you can never drink to much water.
Glad Anitia is responding well and I am sure she was just very anxious to get moving as the sedation wore off. Best though for her to rest for now as there will be plenty of time to talk and move around as she heels more.
Glad to hear both of you are improving. Call whenever your busy schedule allows. In the mean time we will keep up to date through the blog. Give Anita our best.
What a wonderful tool this Blog has been. So happy to read about Anita's improvements, tell her to keep up the good work. You all are in our thoughts and prayers. Ed, keep tippin' that water bottle!!!
Luv,
Gay
Anita --I know the time will come when you can read this blog---
We have chatted few times at church---my husband's grandfather performed your wedding ceremony. The special choir music at Central was beautiful yesterday but I looked up in the choir and wondered where you were----now, I have learned of this awful automobile accident and the struggles you have had. I also read what a strong fight you have put up to get your strength and health, and it is clear what a loving family you have. Moffatt and I and our children will be praying for a comfortable recovery.

Good for people to know.
